BIBLICAL STUDIES

Biblical studies is the study of the books of the Bible. It is primarily concerned with the foundational, base-level ‘meaning’ of passages or sections of the biblical texts (known as ‘exegesis’) and the developments and circumstances regarding Judaism and early Christianity. So, the focus of biblical studies is the book known as the Bible — it is Biblical language, literature, nature, history, composition, authors, etc.

Biblical studies also includes the various methods of Bible study to help the student understand the divisions of the Bible, the literary concepts of the Bible and the presentation language of the Bible such as types, shadows, symbols, parables, similes, and metaphors. The end goal of Biblical Studies, the study of various books, is to develop a broader textual understanding of the Bible, the Christian faith, and understand the Bible’s influence and application for today.
